Poems on humility

shortpoems

Everything that is beautiful
And fruitful
Grows on our life’s humility-tree.

Sri Chinmoy (1)

The seed of humility is exceptionally fertile.
It may not germinate plants of power and force,
But it does yield flowers of Sweetness, Grace,
Modesty and Light.

– Sri Chinmoy (2)

“WE, the rustling leaves,
have a voice that answers the storms,
but who are you so silent?”
“I am a mere flower.”

– Rabindranath Tagore – Stray Bird

My song has put off her adornments. She has no pride of dress and decoration. Ornaments would mar our union; they would come between thee and me; their jingling would drown thy whispers.

My poet’s vanity dies in shame before thy sight. O master poet, I have sat down at thy feet. Only let me make my life simple and straight, like a flute of reed for thee to fill with music.

– Rabindranath Tagore (3)
